According to the World Health Organization, if you want to quit smoking, the first tip we can give you is to follow the S.T.A.R. method: an evidence-based quit plan that incorporates these elements:
1. Set a quit date: now, today, or ideally within two weeks
2. Tell family, friends and co-workers about quitting, and request understanding and support
3. Anticipate challenges to the upcoming quit attempt, particularly during the critical first few weeks
4. Remove tobacco products from your environment. Prior to quitting, avoid smoking in places where you spend a lot of time, like work, home or car. And make your home smoke-free.
